November 24, 2017 at 9:57 am #156weather looks nice, have a good day
November 26, 2017 at 9:51 am #157It was.
Flat calm, just a drift from the NW.
Bouyant air coming off garden centre and Syngenta, extended flight times but no real height gain. Had the field to myself, even the Kites were resting up in the coll winter sunshine.
January 15, 2018 at 10:21 am #299Calm but cold and overcast yesterday at Big Barn. The forecasted blue sky didn’t materialise. Lots of light lift about. Field condition very good – not too muddy. There is a bit of rubbish outside the entrance (office chest of drawers)!
March 3, 2018 at 12:27 pm #322My last outing at the club field didn’t go to plan. Launched and flew up wind straight into the tallest tree on the field. I’d have bet money I’d already flown over it!
Big thanks to Graham S, for coming down to the field and assisting with the retrieval. Impressively Graham managed to get half way up the neighbouring tree and using the retrieval pole worked the model down a few branches. We had to concede defeat and leave the model overnight in the rain.
The following day I had Paul Akery from P.A Tree Care retrieve the model for me. Paul has been used by several members already. He climbed the tree and lowered the model to the ground via rope. Almost no damage and despite the canopy coming off, letting in water – all has dried and is in working order.
March 3, 2018 at 6:11 pm #323Good grief David, that looks a long way up!!
ColinApril 8, 2018 at 9:39 pm #358I believe a good time was had on Thursday 5th at Big Barn… Anyone care to add some notes?
April 18, 2018 at 8:51 am #362With tomorrows slope trip cancelled due to lack of wind, it’s time to get down the field and do some thermallin’.
Looks like a few will be there. Look forward to seeing you.

April 20, 2018 at 8:32 am #368No wind on the slope, so spent a lovely day down a the field yesterday.
Peter W, Barry and myself flying electric including Barry’s little two channel power model. David P also there, whirling around in the middle of the field flying DLG. How’s he got the energy!!
Optimus got it’s second session, spent a bit of time testing out ‘fail-safe’ characteristics to decide on best set up. The lift was far more fickle than last time but all flights 10 minutes plus with a couple over 20 that could have gone on longer. Got those bl**dy Avas in my sights now!!
June 18, 2018 at 9:11 pm #456Hi Peeps,
The FF CHUCKIE scheduled for tomorrow, 19th June, is cancelled due to an unfavourable wind direction and a lack of support.Cheers,
